How do I use the Gel Polish Remover?

  • Buff nails to remover shiny top coat. This helps the remover penetrate through the layers easier.
  • Use the brush applicator to apply a generous layer of Gel Remover. By generous, we mean a nice thick coat! A generous amount ensures that the remover will not dry out before it is able to fully penetrate through to the bottom layer of your gel polish and lift.
  • Let the gel remover work for at least 3 minutes before scraping off the lifted gel polish with the provided cuticle pusher.
  • If more remover is needed, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the last bit of gel has lifted. Do not pull of peel.
  • Wipe nail clean with an alcohol soaked lint-free pad and you're all done!

What are the steps for painting my nails with gel polish?

  • Wipe nail thoroughly with alcohol to remove oil and debris.
  • Use a small fine grit file or buffing block to remove the shine from your nail plate. Concentrate around the perimeter: cuticles, side walls and free edge. Texture gives the gel polish something to hold on to.
  • Wipe nail dust off with alcohol.
  • Lightly paint on first coat of polish, keeping away from cuticles and sides. Any cured gel that touches skin or cuticle will lift.
  • Cure under a uv/led lamp for 60secs.
  • If you like, you can add a second coat to build color.
  • Cure under a uv/led lamp for 60secs.
  • Finish off with a gel top coat. We prefer to use a no-wipe top coat that cures to a dry, non-sticky finish.
  • Cure under a uv/led lamp for 60secs.
  • If you are using a traditional nail polish top coat, wipe the sticky layer away with alcohol before applying.
  • Finish with a touch of cuticle oil and you're done!

Do I need to use a base gel? a top coat?

If you have thin or bendy nails, a base gel is recommended to add a bit of rigidity and support to your natural nails. 2 thin coats are sufficient. Be sure to cure in between each coat before applying your gel polish color.

If you have sturdy nails, a base gel is not necessary when using Gelly Bae. Our gel polish has a built-in rubber base that is adherent and very flexible.

We do recommend a top coat because the gel polish on its own has a dull, tacky finish.

How can I make my gel polish manicure last?

If nail is prepped correctly and application isn't touching cuticles or skin, and your nails were cleansed of oils or debris, your gel polish application should last 1-2 weeks.

Be advised that polish needs a textured surface to grab hold of. If you apply your gel polish on top of smooth, non-cleansed nails, the polish will peel off. If there is gel polish touching cuticle or skin, upon application, your gel polish will lift.

Gently wipe excess gel from skin with a cuticle stick or lint-free wipe BEFORE curing.

How to keep my natural nails from chipping and peeling?

Your nails have the same structure as your hair. If you cut your hair with dull scissors, it will lead to split ends.

With that said, while emery boards are readily available and most often found in the home, they are not the best for finishing your nails.

A glass nail file has a superfine grit which essentially seals the nail edge during filing. This keeps your nail edge from allowing dirt and debris in which causes vulnerability and peeling.

The best way to use a glass file: Trim your nails as closely to your desired shape with a sturdy, sharp pair of nail clippers. (German steel clippers are fantastic). Then use your glass file to refine the edge shape and seal.

Over time, you'll find your nails will not peel or chip and will feel a lot stronger.
